Select Shapes and Entities
Before you can edit, combine, or explode shapes, you must select them. You can select one or more shapes, or you can select one or more entities that make a shape.
To Select Shapes
You can select shapes on the canvas or in the Project pane. Use one of these procedures to select shapes:
- On the canvas, use a selection rectangle. Click an empty space near the shape or shapes that you want to select and drag the pointer over the shapes.
- If you drag from left to right, only shapes that are completely contained in the selection rectangle are selected.
- If you drag from right to left, all of the shapes that intersect with the selection rectangle are selected.
- On the canvas, click the shape that you want to select. To select more than one, press and hold the Ctrl key while you click them.
- In the Project pane, click the shape that you want to select. To select more than one, press and hold the Ctrl key while you click them.
To Select Entities That Make a Shape
- In the Project pane, click the Expand button
adjacent to the shape to show the entities.
- Click to select one or more entities. To select more than one, press and hold the Ctrl key while you click them.
To Add a Shape or Entity to a Selection
If you have some shapes or entities selected and you need to select another object, press Ctrl and click the shape or entity that you want to select. This object becomes selected and the objects that are currently selected stay selected.
To Remove a Shape or Entity from a Selection
If you have some shapes or entities selected and you need to cancel the selection of one of the objects, press Ctrl and click the shape or entity that you want to remove. The object is removed and all other objects stay selected.
